Italy is known for its infused culture and breathtaking architecture so it's no surprise it is one of the most romantic countries in the world- making it the perfect location to shoot our 2018 Collection “Love Awakened.” The vision was raw emotions, and total immersion in the beauty around you. What better location than the expansive and endless landscape of the quaint community of Orvieto in the province of Umbria. Read on for an inside look at what happened behind the scenes of this magical shoot.
We had the privilege of working world-renowned photographer, Lelia Scarfiotti, based out of Tuscany, Italy. Lelia is dedicated to capturing her subject’s emotions and love through photography and her work has been featured in distinguished publications such as Vogue, The Lane, Green Wedding Shoes and countless others. Her personalized, lustful perspective on photography captivated us immediately and she worked absolute magic on our shoot, bringing the collection to life.
For the location, we were honoured to work inside the stunning walls of La Badia, an 11th century monastery embedded in the lush countryside. Exploring the contrast between decaying divine structures and the feminine ethereal silhouettes, encapsulated our vision for Love Awakened blending timelessness with tradition.
Beginning as a symbol to represent protection of the bride within the Catholic culture, it has transitioned to reflect the bride’s individuality and style for religious and non-religious ceremonies alike. This transition is prominent in wedding culture and is a crucial piece of Daphne Newman Design’s identity. Intertwining the origins of lace and the veil with the modern-day bride brings significance and emotion to the brand, and a piece of bridal couture that is both cherished and timeless.
We cannot thank our team enough for an incredible two days in Italy- it was truly a dream come true. Check out the video below for some behind the scenes footage!
